Will: Pasquotank Co., NC will dated 28 Nov. 1777, probated Dec. 1789, recorded 12 Aug. 1790, Book D, P. 195; Original copy in the North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh, NC, Box C.R.075.801.16

Will abstract "...

I, Elizabeth Pool, widow...give to my daughter Rebecca Needham....I give to son Malachi Mann...I give to my grandaughter Elizabeth Pike...my will is my daughter Elizabeth Pool to receive all the remaining part of my estate....I appoint my son in law John Needham my whole & sole executor"

Estate of Elizabeth-original records from Box C.R.075.508.131, NC State Archives.  In the account of sales, some familiar family names appear: Elizabeth Pool, John Smithson Jr., John Pendleton, Rufus Williams, John Needham, John Smithson, Abram Gordon, Samuel Jinnings, Archd. Davis and James Taylor.

In deeds no. 62 listed in the History of Perquimans Co. by Mrs. Winslow I find a John Mann who sold 50a to Thomas Weeks on 1 Apr 1746 which was part of a grant Jan 1 1694.  Could John have been Elizabeth's first husband? Malachi married Jennie Underwood.[28]

Joseph and Elizabeth had the following children:

18 F         i.  Rebecca POOL was born about 1747 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. She died about 1779 in Prob., Pasquotank County. Rebecca married John NEEDHAM (See Needham Family)

19 F        ii.  ? POOL was born about 1750 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. In the will of Elizabeth Pool she mentions grandaughter Elizabeth Pike so she must have had a daughter who married a man named Pike.

20 F       iii.  Elizabeth POOL was born in 1752 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. Elizabeth Pool Jr. probably did not marry because her mother left her most of her estate plus when the estate was settled she was still called Elizabeth Pool.

21 M      iv.  Richard POOL was born about 1754 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

22 M       v.  William POOL was born about 1756 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.
